Law Zone : Ur Rights

Young people have just as many rights as adults. But that hasn’t always been the case. It was only on 20th November 1989 that the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) which outlined one set of legal rights for all children and young people across the globe. That means you are entitled to the following, no under international law to the following, no matter who you are or where you live:

  • Protection from discrimination.
  • Your best interests will be the most important factor considered when making decisions affecting you.
  • The right to have your mental and physical welfare protected, as well as the right to survive and develop.
  • The right to express your views and have your opinions taken into consideration in all matters affecting you and your wellbeing.

Remember, with rights comes responsibility.
