What is a hate crime?
A hate crime or racist incident can take many different forms such as physical assault, damage to property, verbal abuse or hate mail.

If you are a victim of hate crime and feel threatened, dial 999 immediately.

Who else can help me?

Every policing district in Northern Ireland has what’s called a Minority Liaison Officer who can help you. They will explain police powers and procedures to you and can put you in touch with other agencies and people who can help.

The police take hate crime very seriously and offer a confidential service to help you if you are a victim. Remember, the police are there to protect you and your rights.
